Well, I’ve been here for 6 days now and in many ways feel at home (feeding mosquitoes and watering the garden – and beginning to tell other road users to get out of my way – in Portuguese!! So thank you so much for your prayers. I have driven around quite a bit of Maputo (in various vehicles so becoming “expert” with old diesel trucks!) and seen a few patients – but mostly met up with old friends (from the children) – including my friend Paulito (the really sick looking baby that I was giving a nebuliser if you remember my pictures – weighed 4.5 kg when I was here last – 22 months old – AIDS/TB etc) – now a fat and smiling and almost walking fun-filled 10kg plus bundle of joy!!! As well as making new friends – including with my “house-mate” Celia, a wonderful Brazilian powerfully anointed young lady – with even wilder hair than me! – and becoming a nominal Brazilian on the base (I’m sharing kitchen with 2 Brazilian families too) – which all means I am learning some Portuguese – and surrounded by Brazilian worship which is great.

I’ve also “bumped into” (?!) an american couple who are GPs – and praying about whether they should come out here in March (remember I was praying for a GP – they would jobshare so that counts as one – and God’s into double portion blessings eh!!) – their heart for the work here is very similar to mine…..We are also trying to meet up with a World Relief project in the next district where they are running primary health centres and doing some great health education work – I don’t believe these contacts that I’ve gained are for nothing – Please pray that we are able to visit, and ask all the relevant questions – and God can show me specific strategies and contacts within the government to begin the work here.

Please also pray that my luggage does reach me (I’m getting to the point of needing it now – even if only for jumpers for the evenings – and to begin applying for work permits etc)- and that I stop being food for mosquitoes (ie find some mosquito net treatment etc!) – and that I can hear God’s order for this week. If plans come off I will be travelling north to visit the world relief project Mon and Tues and then starting the new clinic for the community on Wednesday (I will see all the children and the Mozambican doctor , the adults) – I hope this will be the beginning of expanding the service we can offer to the community from here. Please pray for the right meetings too with the MSF clinic who see our HIV kids and would like my input there. Please pray that God brings a Mozambican to be a friend to me (and vice versa here too) – and that God begins to break my heart for Mozambique.

Re emails – I am picking up regularly (or trying!) from the hotmail address – jennygonde@hotmail.com so try that first – and do let me know your news – and texting me works – hallelujah!

God bless you richly
lots of love

Jenny
