Saving The Lost

How to be involved in seeking and saving the lost
~ Notes on preach by Chas Woods on 10/6/1

2 motivations:
1. Love God first
2. Share in the joy of sinners repenting

2 Assistants:
Spirit of God at work
God will send out labourers – pray yourself out!

5 Practical steps to personal witnessing:
analogy of fishermen (one-to one) not trawler

1. Go to the river with the intention of fishing
friends, neighbours & colleagues
2. Find a good place to fish from (i.e. where the fish like to be)
3. Establish a common ground
4. Don’t start with preaching your ideas, start by listening to their interests and share them
Mutal trust and relationship are essential for effective personal witnessing
5. Meet socially, develop genuine relationship

Create a feeding area and look for bubbles
Throw in bait, wait for bait and don’t jerk the rod
Pray over the relationship. Pray & look for ooportunities
Listen & respond in the Spirit to what they are saying
Pray, be patient and chill out
Bait: news items, questions about spiritual things, leave Christian things around, read Christian books openly, talk openly about what you are doing as a Christian, live out Christian character and behaviour, give practical help without return, give your testimony.

Bubbles: life’s problems- marriage, children, singleness, sickness, work, questions they have.

Start to land the fish
When they start to show interest, a mutual exchange will begin (This is a step on from point three)
Start to disciple them. Not a course but answering their needs and leading them to Jesus.
Invite them to a suitable meeting (could be burning bridges if done too soon)
Don’t pressuruze/rush them
Be a ‘midwife’

Turn fish into fishermen
Be direct – Have you ever given your life to Jesus – or are you still on the way?
How far along the way are you?
Would you like to become a real Christian and be sure about it?
Continue to disciple them
Bring them to meetings as part of the discipling
Encourage them to fish!
